Nola Kate

Lilypie Second Birthday tickers

Monday, June 20, 2011

This weekend Greg and I left Nola with Nana and went for a long weekend in Vegas. Friday was spent celebrating my upcoming birthday, and Saturday we celebrated the upcoming marriage of Bridget and Kasey.

For my birthday, we went to dinner at RM Seafood and saw "O." During the day we walked around Vegas and spent some down time at the pool at our hotel, Mandalay Bay.

For Saturday, the girls spent the day at the Spa and shopping with more downtime at the pool. The boys raced go karts and spent time at the pool. We met up after dinner and then danced the night away.

It was an amazing weekend with great friends. When we returned we were "shocked" that Nola can now say "nana,". I'm sure there was lots of practicing over the 3 days.

Here are a few photos of the weekend.

The Start of Summer

Summer is fast approaching so we are taking full advantage of being outside before the 115 degree days arrive. Nola loves playing outside, as you can usually tell from the scrapes on her knees. Nola is talking a lot more and shows her attitude everyday. Her favorite words are mine, bye, hey, ball, and stop dog. She likes to tell Harry to stop when he barks.

Here are a few recent pictures of our fun.

Happy Easter

We hope everyone has a fantastic Easter. Nana is in town visiting while she's on spring break so it will be nice having an easy week with Bean. Below are her Easter portraits that Amber at Olive You Photography made. As always they are fabulous. For the first picture everyone says there's a picture of me just like it. I'll have to see if I can dig it up.

It's also warming up in Havasu...meaning instead of cool 70 degree days, we have days in the 90's. So Nola has adjusted her outfit choices. She loves playing outside and the Nixdorf's gave us the awesome climbing/slide activity center that their kids outgrew.

Nola is becoming such a big girl. She talks non stop and her favorite words are mine and no. Sometimes she's a picky eater and sometimes she's not. Below is a pic of her enjoying pizza. This week she decided she liked sausage, to our surprise, and has eaten it at several meals.

Over the next few months we'll have several visitors...Jessica at the first of May, Dean and Deb at the end of May, and Nana for most of June. We are happy to have family in town to help with Nola.

I had to go to Phoenix for work last week and Nola and daddy survived without me. Below is one of the pics daddy sent while I was away. Our iPads were great bc we were able to video chat the entire trip. It was great being able to see Nola everyday. She was amazed at the technology. :)

Happy Valentine's Day

Nola was not super excited about her Valentine's photo shoot. She stopped crying once I moved her to her chair and handed over the shoe.

Havasu Balloon Festival
We attended the 1st Annual Havasu Balloon Fest in January. It was such a great time for the family. Nola was able to run "freely" and eat "junk" food at the event. She walked a ton and had chocolate covered bananas for the first time. Her main course was a grilled cheese. Here are a few pictures of the festival. She also rode a school bus for the first time.

Birthday, Christmas and a Plane Ride

Nola celebrated her First Birthday with me, Daddy, and Harry. We had big plans for a party, but being a December baby it's just too hard competing with all of the Christmas parties. Next year though we'll make sure she has a big blowout! She loved the cake (just like her mommy) and was excited to open her gifts.

Christmas was special in our new home. Santa arrived shortly after she went to bed and delivered a chair and a new pony push toy. She also received tons of wonderful gifts from friends and family. We had a special breakfast of upside down banana french toast and had Christmas dinner outside by the pool. What did we have for dinner?? A crab boil. Breakfast and dinner were so great we are starting a new tradition for every Christmas.

The day after Christmas we flew to GA. GA was having a snow storm, but after many hours of driving we safely arrived at Nana and Grandpa's house in Blue Ridge. We spent a week there visiting family and friends. Nola and Mommy weren't prepared for the snow, so Nana and Grandpa brought in the snow by bucket fulls for Nola to play with inside.

The plane ride was an event-- Nola has the exact schedule for each flight. She slept for the first hour, played for the next two hours, and had a complete melt downs the last 45 minutes. It's a long flight so I was happy with the way it went, but I was exhausted after each flight, and was happy to see someone I knew at each airport to hand her to.

We had a special surprise when we arrived back at the Vegas Airport-- Bryce and Jessica were waiting at baggage claim welcoming Nola and I home. We hadn't seen them since April of 2007 so it was a very special meeting. Sadly, we didn't take any pictures-- shame on mommy and daddy!

We had a great Holiday season and are looking forward to our next adventure in February. A road trip through Central and Southern Arizona.

Fast Forward to 10 Months old...

Long time and no updates....

First please accept my most humble apology for the lack of updates. Last post...Nola was 3 months old...Nola is now 10 months old.

Here's a quick recap of our life story over the last few months. We sold our house in AL. Nola and I spent 2 months in GA while Greg finished his time at Harley in AL. Greg and Harry moved to Arizona on July 26. Nola and I moved to Arizona on July 3. We bought our new home on June 30 and moved in on July 7.

Nola has been amazing through the whole process and Greg and I are really lucky to have received such a great kid! She's so easy going. Above are a few pics of our home and Nola. I hope to do a better job at documenting our adventures of the Wild Wild West!
